Hi betmo,
I had the same misgivings as you did about Gertrude's saying, at first.
Then I read it again, and I guess she felt comforted by the goodness that repeats itself in history. One should not use up all one's time dwelling on the sad and bad things. There is a time for joy. Birth pangs, ageing and passing are just inevitables!

I was at a concert once, sponsored by the American Indian Movement.

Kris was there with Rita Cooledge, Harry Belafonte, Buffy St. Marie etc.

Thanks for posting about PoetryMan- he is a wonderful soul..one of the most creative souls in Blogland....Renegade Eye- I think we were at the same concert- I remember that concert..and no one ever remembers how wonderful Buffy StMarie was - she was a bit ecllipsed by Joan Baez- but she was wonderful to hear...sigh...you have a good thing going here Betmo- keep it going...

donnie- get out the word and vote for this man!!!! i am trying the same thing for tasini for congress in the new york primaries here. it is time to send the message that we aren't going to take status quo anymore. thanks for a good civics lesson.
