bad episode of twilight zone

rod serling is from upstate new york- more importantly- binghamton :) there's a great big plaque in front of the high school in honor of him. the twilight zone is too early for me to have seen it in its original series- but i have been renting dvds and i love the show. i haven't seen a bad one ever- the writing was so good- until now. i have a feeling it's because rod isn't writing them.

i mean this whole scenario has to be fiction, right? how else to explain the tanking economy around the globe; the war and chaos that reigns supreme; the end of republics and democracies alongside dictatorships; people spying on other people; neighbors against neighbors. how else to explain what we have become- and how we are shaping the world.

folks say that everyone needs a break. folks need a rest away from the ugly side of politics for awhile. the soldiers in iraq don't get a break. the iraqis don't get a break. the poor don't get a break. no, diverting attention and psychic breaks and vacations seem to be luxury items inventing by well meaning folks who don't know any better. see, i can't take a break. you can't take a break in the middle of cpr. you have to go until you are too exhausted to continue- or someone else takes over. since no one else is taking over- and since i have an ounce of strength in my body- here i am.

my thought is that everything needs to shut down. no more buying or vacationing or working. we all need to stop living for a time in order to get our country back. i suppose it only takes a minor adjustment to live under dictatorship- especially for folks who are used to being told what to do. not so easy for folks who like to be left alone to live their lives the way they see fit. who like to think their own thoughts. huh, sounds like old line conservative mantra. too bad that there aren't anymore conservatives with morals over on that side of the aisle. no, i am not being judgmental- we don't have anymore bleeding hearts on this side. everyone has become a mish mash of the same type of person. the british folks ran on their banks. at the very least they have their life's savings. we need to be a bit more involved en masse- and i don't mean just protests. lord knows we don't need to through ourselves into their jails. there are enough americans in jails, prisons and other detention facilities as it is.

i don't have the answer. i just know that when i am in the middle of a crisis- i fix it before leaving it. the life goes on as usual crap doesn't resonate with me. let's shop to save our economy doesn't resonate with me- because it is taking down my country. we know what needs to be done. we do. now is the test- will we have the strength- as americans- to do it?

Shopping to save the economy is one of the many things that brought us into this finanical maise.

such is real life---you don;t take a break when something defintely needs fixing. Once you fix the problem, THEN you take a break, because then you are safe from the problem and you CAN take a break.

It was "taking a break" that got us in to this mess in the first place ( in part). The 2000 election was the just about the worst turnout ever. At that time I thought CLinton was doing a "pretty good" job, but that was just an impression--I didn't actually KNOW! No more complacency since then, none now, and none in the future.
The break which we all desire will come naturally from the effort we maintain today.

"my thought is that everything needs to shut down. no more buying or vacationing or working. we all need to stop living for a time in order to get our country back"
I agree. Or at the very least, give a whole lot more concentration to the problem than we have been. But therein lies the devil with the details. Your analogy with cpr was excellent. But if a Democrat or Liberal or whatever said "this guy needs cpr", the red states would say "No, he needs open heart surgery", for it'd be a cold day in hell before they'd ever agree or cooperate with us on anything. Less than 100% effort isn't going to be enough.

"let's shop to save our economy doesn't resonate with me"
Me either. I always thought that showed he thinks we're so stupid we're incapable of grasping the situation, so "just go shopping, American. I'll take care of it."

The only fix that will work is the immediate removal of Der Fuhrer and the Dark Lord and sending them to the Hague to stand trial for War Crimes.

Anything less than that won't save us or fix the problems our country now has.

God Bless.
