peacechick mary queried why the admin still wields so much power in the wake of so many corruption scandals. well, i think i may have an answer- to where all of the missing money has been going and why they are so arrogant. it is something that you won't hear about in the msm- or the daily body count
private armies
kinda puts hussein's imperial guard into perspective dudn't it? yes, troops don't guard dignitaries and diplomats in baghdad- the mercenaries do. think on that this weekend. think about the fact that blackwater guards were deployed in new orleans instead of national guard. think about the implications.
now, mercs have been used since warfare began- but there are 126,000 or so over in iraq from 100+ 'independent contractors.' starting to make the patriot act look a bit less patriotic to me and the military commissions act look a whole lot scarier.

Not only do we hire mercenaries, we sometimes offer them citizenship in exchange for their "services."
The irony of that little "Protecting America" placard is overwhelming.
This kind of stuff freaks me out, too. It's every nightmare apocalyptic and post apocalyptic sci/fi spec/fic novel I read as a kid. The keenest minds of the last couple of generations imagined not only our scientific "progress", but where it could lead us, as well. Have you seen George Orwell Rolls in his Grave?? I'm putting it on, now. I'll post about it after. (Do you sometimes wonder if the Religious Right is actually trying to bring about their bible's prophesy of armageddon?)

well, it makes me wonder too mary- i had no idea of the sheer scope of the mercenary involvement. i am sure that they don't want mainstream to pick it up. not that it would matter a tinker's dam if it was. you're very welcome- you write good stuff!!
and tua- for your info- i planted some tomatoes and peppers to grow seedlings and i put in some strawberries. so there :) of course it will still be here- it is never going to go away. these folks are bent on world domination and no mere elections are going to stand in their way. wolfie and gonzo ain't going anywhere. they won't resign and it's in cheney's hands to fire them. fat chance. we are the biggest shareholders in the world bank- so guess what?
