I love gardenias and am pissed by this last snow. Our bb season starts on April 14th and it just killed our fields that were already clean and waiting for little feet to practice on them. We need the flowers to bloom
I miss lilacs. We don't have them in the south, nor the other wonderful blooms of spring up north. Tulips, forsythia, jonquils, etc. Lilacs are a fav of mine too.
Forsythia, crepe myrtal, bluebells growing wild, morning glories, all flowers make us feel renewed. Every year I plan a flower garden, and every year, I haven't. Perhaps this year I'll do it. A feel good post today.
oh; i agree - my favorite by far! I have a lilac tree that the gardening center just gave me because it was basically a sick stick in the mud. I tended it two years with no flowers and this year I will finally have them!
As peacechick said, we don't have them in the south, and I dearly miss them. I had a bush over ten feet tall, five feet from my front door, back "home." In the spring, we used to open the door....and flood the house with free air freshener.:)
I haven't smelled a lilac since I was, oh, FIVE??? I love them, but they don't grow here in FL. We have plenty of gardenias and jasmine and honeysuckle. I love it when orange trees bloom!

I'm with Mary. I miss lilacs. We don't have them in LA very much, and they - along with forsythia - really mean spring to me.

You know, I was wondering what it was that I missed about spring when I lived down south, and now I know!
