Participate in an historic citizen lobbying effort to create a U.S. Department of Peace. There is currently a bill before both Houses of Congress (House Resolution 3760 and Senate 1756). This landmark measure will augment our current problem-solving options, providing practical, nonviolent solutions to the problems of domestic and international conflict.

Again, Thank you Betmo for keeping us informed. I went tot the site and found the Wisconsin Peace Alliance contact person for my district lives in Milwaukee, some 300 miles away.
I've e-mailed and am waiting for a reply. I like peace. I'd like to be counted as being "for" peace.
Tuesday, while driving South in southern Wisconsin, I was passed by a large black car, I think it was a Chrysler 300.
As the automobile passed me, he slowed when he came close to abreast of me. When he did pass, he very discreetly put up his middle finger. I immediatley recognized this behavior as it happens once in a while. He slowed to read the bumper stickers.
"If your Not Outraged, then you aren't paying attention"
"Out of Iraq, NOW!"
"Veterans For Peace"
"Code Pink"
"Impeach Bush"
Oh well, I smiled and was hoping he was looking.
It did upset me some. I wanted to explain to him why I felt the way I do. I would love to get the other point of view and why he is so angry at someone that doesn't like the Bu$hCo administration.
So, now get counted in the Peace effort. It's worth it.
Pimp Junk
Must be another word for "Bling"
ppjntq (Betmo's word ver on this post)
I'm in on this one, too. Wouldn't that be fabulous if we had a Dept of Peace that was as well funded as the Dept of Defense (war)?
well pimp junk- i mean spadoman :)- i have a feeling that mr. big black car wouldn't have listened to your point of view anyway. which is why he thought that he was so clever at driving by and giving you an arrogant 'fuck you.' you can't let the mindset of the christian right, bigoted, racist, misogynistic, close minded, small thinking, backwards republican party get to you. they can't stand the fact that we see them for what they are(see above) and that we are on to their reindeer games. so be it. water off of a duck's back and a hearty happy holidays to you and yours.
mary- i hope that i live to see the day when that is indeed the case.
Thanks for the link. And the post.
Hi, I'm Sewmouse and my Dad listens to O'Reilly.
(Group: Hello Sewmouse!)
You know, Spadoman, it's sad. When I actually talk to my Dad, about 90% of our viewpoints are similar. He agrees with me that we need to get our troops out of Iraq, and that we need a game-plan that plays to that ideal.
He agrees with me about 75% on the Illegal Immigration thing.
He agrees with me on most everything except my pro-choice and pro-gay-marriage stances.
But because O'Reilly tells him to, he is aghast that I am a "Lib'Rul".
He's 85 years old, I'll cut him SOME slack. He ain't changing.
"Hi, I'm Sewmouse and my Dad listens to O'Reilly."
Your dad likes Bill-o too?
Heck, my dad quotes the guy on a regular basis.
