Betmo.....I'm proud to tell you that Mrs. Spadoman has been doing a weekly protest "march" at Alliant Technolgies in Edina, MN. This is the place that makes depleated uranium weapons and munitions.

She was arrested there for civil disobedience last October. No outcome from the courts as yet. The protesters just want to be heard, they did nothing but walk past the barriers trying to deliver a letter to the CEO. Some of the protedtors are stockholders so they could attend stockholder meetings and voice concerns there, but they were kicked out of the meetings.

This story you posted is right on. A lot like the Agent Orange from Vietnam. Agents of Death I call them. The gift that keeps on giving.

Good job finding this and posting for all to see and ponder.

Big protest march in Edina at Alliant Tech October 2nd, 2006. Anyone interested, for info to attend, e-mail me.

In the meantime, live in peace.

Betmo, I sent a mail yesterday about this. Glad you posted on it.

Spadoman, sounds like you got one hell of a woman there.

I read this too. I am not sure if it is more disgusting or sad, either we the people lose, and lose again. This is true insanity. If only all those people waving their little flags knew the truth.

Check out this site:

http://circlevision.org/alliantaction.html

The headline article is about the shareholders, who are also proitesters, being denied access to the stockholders meeting. Very intersting stuff. Read it.

This is the website for the Alliant Technologies protest group. It can be found also on Circlevision.org as well as other progressive protest sites like Sxchool of the Americas, another place that teaches death.

Absolutely sickening. I've seen pictures of the babies. Yet bush continues to use it- shouldn't have in the first place. And then there's Plutonium 238. But when you're a dictator-in-training and you don't care about life...

People tell me that Bush doesn't care about the troops, but I think it's worse than that - he has a disdain for them. They are below his radar as far as concern - afterall they don't contribute money to his cronies.

he believes in the cause- and bush 1 and clinton used them. the brits also use them- and probably anyone with access to the uranium. i think that the problem is that civilians are seen as participants- and if they aren't participants- then collaborators. when they aren't seen as civilians- it's awful easy to kill them or maim them.

I just ran across this horrifying story yesterday, and was stunned! I understand other countries use this stuff as well, prompting me to think there has to be collusion within the United Nations. I've never been a big fan of the UN as they mostly posture and blubber. It seems to take two centuries for anything real to be done by them. After reading that story and others, I fail to see why the U.N. should even exist anymore. Imo, this is far worse than the Agent Orange we faced in Vietnam, simply due to the tremendously long half life.

I had heard about this, but I had not seen the article. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. We need to protect our soldiers!

If I wasn't depressed before reading this I am now.

Betmo, this makes me physically ill. I have linked it on my site as well - how horrific is our government going to get before this ends?

I couldn't help but notice that the folks who post and take the "right" side point of view are not in this post rebuking this subject matter.

Anyone else notice that? I suppose there is nothing more to say. These dirty armaments indiscriminantly kill all people. Warriors, civilians, our side, their side, makes no difference.

It is a proven fact that the American corporations that make these weapons from depleated uranium sell these same munitions to the very people we are fighting. Our soldiers get killed ny them by getting shot and by being exposed.

Civilians keep on getting contaminated long after the fighting is over and the warriors leave.

Think about it. Did anyone go to the site I posted? Any comments?

"After the City of Edina lost three consecutive jury trials because judges allowed evidence and testimony about International Laws and Treaties, the city, Alliant Techsystems, and the city attorneys got together to devise a different strategy to prosecute nonviolent activists who continued to raise legal and moral objections to several of the indiscriminate weapons made by this 'defense' contractor. What they devised was to rewrite the local law to include a new trespass ordinance which would deny protestors the right to put their case before a jury of their peers. By passing a new Edina ordinance and changing the penalty to one where a jail sentence was no longer a sanction, the city effectively removed the cases from appearing before juries. The City of Edina was in such a hurry to protect this corporate malefactor (ATK) that members of the City Council adopted the new ordinance without even having the courtesy to allow for community input by scheduling a second reading of the proposed ordinance."

To continue your comment Betmo, when Mrs. Spadoman was arrested with the others, known as the Alliant 42, in October of 2005, they found out about this change in the law.

When the court date finally came in front of the judge, the case was challenged because of the last item you mention, that is, there was no community input for a city council ordinance change.

Also, the arrested were to stipulate in court that they were there and trespassed, but the 42 refused and demanded that the city prove that they were indeed the ones who trespassed.

On top of that, the city attorney wanted to know who among the 42 was going to speak for the group. Each individual wanted to state their own case in this matter. It was decided then by the judge that there was not enough time. That was in February of 2006.

As of now, there are mutterings that there will be no more trials and the case will be forgotten, but no-one is sure. No-one has heard what the status is for the October 2005 arrests.

By the way, the arrested people only wanted to deliver a letter to the CEO demanding that he tell the employees they are violating international law by making these weapons that indiscriminately kill and keep on killing for many lifetimes. So many lifetimes that it can't even be comprehended. 4.6 Billion years is the half-life of this material.

The Alliant Action group, web-site via Circlevision.org, hopes that as many as 1000 people will cross the line and be arrested at the October 2nd planned gathering at Alliant.

Once again. Any activists out there?

i have taken to not responding to them because they have nothing to contribute and only come here to troll. there are a few exceptions who actually have discussions- but the ones who troll and leave- aren't worth my time.

as for activism- it's early in the day yet spado- let the good folks have some coffee :)
