please sit down...

hopefully everyone is sitting down for this historic occasion- i agree with george bush. he is against singing the national anthem in any language other than english- and i agree. the star sp(m)angled banner is the american anthem and was written in english. the official language of america is- english. i don't begrudge immigrants their native tongue- but if you are an immigrant- then you have a home country whose anthem is in your native tongue. if you are an american citizen- you should know enough english to sing the american anthem in english. very simple. the 'spanish national anthem' is not the national anthem. in fact, some of the verses are changed. big deal- we borrowed the tune from an english drinking song. the national anthem is english and it's the star spangled banner- period.

i defer to pink fem. who sings the national anthem without being in a public place? i have a feeling that these folks are just wanting to start something- and that this is really a non-issue. the bigger issue, i guess, is the whole 'let's put everything into english and spanish' thing that has everyone's knickers in a twist. we have been doing it for years and it is just now an issue? political smoke screen.

I say "when in Rome..."

Don't come over here and sing the National Anthem in your language. And for crying out loud, learn to speak english. I have no problem with people sharing their cultures, or language, but for the purpose of GOOD COMMUNICATION, PLEASE learn fluent english.
