betmo's rules for life and blogging

i have been attempting to read a variety of blogs- as i am new to the genre and want to see what is going on out there in cyberspace. i have reached a basic conclusion- nothing. now, i realize that that is an overgeneralization- so i will explain. it occurred to me that many blogs, including mine, don't get many comments. why do you suppose that is? well, my thought is that they are deadly, and i mean deadly, BORING. i can't tell you how many times i have suffered- and almost succumbed- to dying of boredom reading about how little tommy finally got potty trained or mom got up and went to work and came home. groovy. how do you comment on that?

so, i said to myself, "self(i know it's an old line- i'm old and decidedly square)- what can i do to make my blog readable?" i decided to make up some rules to blog(and live by)- so, here goes:

1) strive to be interesting. explore different cultures and ways of life- keep learning new things. daily life is a grind. i know that as i work inside the home, help care for my aging mother, and am a self-imposed recluse.

2) find something that you are passionate about. if you infuse enthusiasm into something you are interested in, chances are others will feel that enthusiasm- and it will be interesting.

3) know that not everyone on the planet is a voyeur and if your life too closely mirrors their's- they won't be even remotely interested in commenting.

4) humor is a great thing.

i may add to the rules in the future- but know that i practice what i preach. i am constantly trying to be even more well-rounded, interesting, and ascerbic and do appreciate support and comments. :)

thanks- hope all is well with you and the fam. missed your updates. i probably should have used structure instead of rules- or guidelines. that's more along the lines of what i meant. i randomly pick blogs to try off the main page at blogger and some of those blogs are reeaalll snoozers.
