detention in america

this is also from the may 11 episode:

why did he die?

health at risk for legal immigrants

"Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore,
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

The first two lines of verse seem to apply to the Iraqis after many years of tasting American democracy!

Hope you're hanging in there, Betmo, keeping a stiff upper lip and all that.

Better times are a'comin'.

P.S. I keep telling myself that!

Great post, betmo.

I was struck by the lyrics and decided a bit of a revamp was in order-

"Take back your no-good, your brown skin,
Your useless horde crossing our borders illegally,
The shameful rejects of your heaving coastline,
Hurl these, the hopeless, tyranny-tossed into the sea,
For we’ve no light left in our liberty!"

Another point worth mentioning is that many of 'these' types of prisons are operated by corporations.

There is nothing as harmful as the fear of your own.

I wonder what is the distribution of color in these detention centers.

I ask because in Canada for example, there was a huge fuss over the treatment of a "white" Canadaian con-woman in a Mexican jail; and she was eventually released with governmental intervention and brought to Canada as a celebrity! However, there are innocent Arab-Canadians in the Guantanamo; for whom the government is not lifting a finger.

That aside, I think because America has such an overflow of "nicety" and "care" for human race; they should go invade those damn places like Haiti and provide Iraqi-liberation style care to people; and prevent them from desiring to put foot on America's sacred soil ... after all, the US is built on the graveyard of the native Americans ... you cannot have the colorful disenfranchised of the world compete with Americans stampeding the graves of the massacred!

I wish I could be optimist that America is represented by the message of HOPE Obama brings; but seeing Hillary's success on the premise of "WHITE working honor", and her polls raising amongst the "WHITE" makes me conclude: America IS A RACIST PLACE! Else, she should have been forced to quit the race in DISGRACE!
