not all women are dumb

and please- i am referring to this article in the title

hell hath no fury

" Linda Hirshman, author of the bracing feminist manifesto Get to Work, was slightly more decorous in a Washington Post column about pro-Obama women, but every bit as condescending. Like other Hillary hard-liners, she starts with the assumption that Clinton obviously and indisputably deserves the votes of right-thinking females, so only some kind of psychological flaw, moral failure or logical fallacy can explain why so many smart, accomplished women aren't getting in line."

The truth is, it's a no-win in terms of whichever way you swing (in a general way, not in the argument of which candidate is better/worse). If you support Hillary, there are people going around accusing folks of selling out black people to support uber-feminism. If you support Obama, there are people going around accusing folks of selling out women to support "the blacks". Still others go to the extremes and start actually name calling, justifying their behavior because the "other guy did it first": Hillary-bashers having no problem being misogynists because of racially biased comments from her team or Obama-bashers having no problem disregarding the true slights borne by POC because of sexually biased comments from his team. I call bull&hit on the whole sordid mess. These people are getting so nasty fighting amongst themselves, they are handing the Reps this election on a silver platter with their backbiting and threats to jump their D vote to an R vote if the other guy gets the nomination. It's silly and childish that I refuse to engage or even lend anymore eyeball power to reading the ranting and raving screeds of either Obama or Hillary supports, even bloggers whom I adore the rest of the time. It's like reading the rants of high school kids...And THIS is why I got out of active politics...too much &%$#ing drama! This is also why you won't see me chatting about the race thing or the fem thing on my site...don't want to encourage the trolls if I can help it.

very true. i guess i am just trying to highlight the hypocrisy of so called progressives behaving in a fundamentalist fashion- in both camps. blogging is such a no win, no real reason to keep doing it kind of thing. and i am beyond caring if trolls lurk about. i will just delete them.

You make a great point. The original article also made a great point about how people appear to be "projecting" their own issues towards those who disagree with them (much like Fundies do). Basically, "if you don't support my candidate, then you are rejecting me personally."

Like I said, before, that is one of the main reasons I got out of active politics: If I didn't agree 100% with other party hacks then that meant I was not suitable to associate with them and they treated me as if I w as cow manure...I got tired of being treated like crap and being called out in editorials, even though, technically, I was literally towing the equivalent of "the party line"...just not the line that certain individuals hoped that I would tow (either I was not liberal enough or not conservative enough).

In one on one debates, I can hold my own, but my skin is not thick enough to be kicked around in public by a dozen people with a dozen different takes even if we technically agree.

I've always been a "to each his/her own" kind of girl, but when a dozen people disagree with that, it's either fight a cyclical battle or step back and let them fight it out amongst themselves.

And this is why I am staying out of the whole Obama/Clinton thing because I am not in the mood for anymore crap...

I know you know what I mean. (sigh)

I'm not impressed with anyone who obviously feels they "deserve" the throne of the elite.

We've had that the past 7 years.

I just don't want anymore people who think they "deserve " it, or are "entitled" to it...
and I don't want any more "Games" or Lies or Manuvering...8 years of it....too too much...

I just want some honesty...

I actually don't think I am a Hill Basher...I gave her every chance...but after the shenigans I saw here in Ohio.....I could never Vote for her....ever....

I thought it was only Repugs that would engage in such tactics...never one of the DEMS against another DEM.....

and this week- The Bosnia Sniperfire Lie...that crossed every single line....

I have tried hard to blog in a dignifed fashion- and I know that I support Obama I have lost readers.....and am being viewed by some as a lesser woman...( even had emails telling me that....) I don't care anymore....I am sad that what should have been A Great Election year has turned soooooo ugly.....from within.....

It is a unenviable choice between the two candidates.
One is a smooth and slippery, somewhat deluded fantasist, who has taken millions from pro-israeli lobbyists, and is a firm supporter of an increased military, with no intentions of curbing the activities of the oil companies and without a clear notion of how to help the millions of Americans with no health care plans.
Then you have that Clinton woman........... funny how few people mention her current lover/partner, Ms Abedin, or must the whole world remain silent on the possibility of electing a gay woman to the office of president.
It doesn`t bother me that a gay person should be in the race, but to pretend that she is still "Bill`s wife" is surely one huge "crock of crap".
She has lived with her current partner for several years, she should "come out" and stand proud for the sake of integrity and common sense.
Peace.
