That is a start and I hope it spreads. A good start would be a total shut down one day a week. At this point in the planets cycle of life it would not do anything but it would give people a starting point and the eventual realization as to what percentage of climate change is natural and what is man made!

Just a thought...did that hour of lights/machines off save as much energy or more, than the surge to restart them all took?
