Naomi Wolfe is a brilliant writer and right on the mark with this.

Yesterday, two Americans were denounced entry to Canada. The reason: they were on FBI's list for committing misdemeanors!

Their misdemeanor, was to have protested against war in America!

Now, you guys have not experienced fascism, like people like me have, but imagine living in a world where you are AFRAID of speaking your mind because you FEAR it may create some trouble for you, running your daily life and business. The fear will make you self-censor!

This fear if what Bush is trying to instigate. And institutions (even the noblest of them, universities) are now the bastions of this cause!

When Bishop Tutu can be denied access to podium, I can be sure to be denied access to a tenure!

Betmo... I read this article. It is very interesting. In my efforts to end the war in Iraq, I have, indeed, brushed aside many issues. Some thrown up as smoke screens to get the people of America to pay attention to some absurd story, (the runaway bride or britany, take your pick). But I know deep down that these losses of real and true freedoms are ay hand.

I will post about it as I have much to say. I will link to this post and this article. Bottom line is that we better wake up and fight back or we will be in the Brave New World.

Thanks.

Also, I have been living in a bubble. I just discovered naj and her blog. I need to read more and learn as all narrow visioned Americans need to. Naj's site is a good place to start seeing another point of view. I was drawn there by reading her comment. When she said,

"Now, you guys have not experienced fascism, like people like me have, but imagine living in a world where you are AFRAID of speaking your mind because you FEAR it may create some trouble for you, running your daily life and business. The fear will make you self-censor!"

She is right. We haven't experienced it. More in my next post.

Thanks for all of it.

Hi Spadoman,

I am happy if my blog is helping a bit of light come through this darkness.

I wish I could be left in my bubble. But the abuse and attack on my country made me speak up. I do not like the government of Iran, but it has not harmed ANYONE as much as it has harmed the Iranians who live INSIDE Iran. And it is the Iranians inside Iran who need to settle their accounts first. And those Iranians are telling the world that they do not need help, military or otherwise, from any foreign intruders.

Iranians are very private people, they don't wash their laundry at neighbor's.

Best
