cool stuff
so i spent some time screwing around- with my other blog's template :) i came across this really cool site courtesy of memphis miscellany. it is basically a site full of different blogger templates that you can use just like switching an official blogger template. i suggest downloading your old template to your hard drive first- because as i found out- some of the templates work differently than the previews look. depends on the content and set up of your blog. also, it behaves the same way blogger templates do when switched- you lose all of your cool widgets and whatnot. so- another reason to download that template to add them back if you want. anyhoo- check it out and try it out! the toughest part is deciding what to put back on the ole blogstead :)

Nice site you have, I like the look and I like the template blog you linked to. Thanks.
I am in the process of building Lydia a new website and a blog apart from Blogger, so ideas like this are welcome.
Look, Lady!:) You "dragged" me a little ways; Ah ain't goin' no further!:P
That is an interesting site tho.
So how does one backup their template to there hard drive.
I thought I did it right once only to find out it would not let me change my template after I screwed up a post and tried to restore the template I saved.
So I'm not sure I did it right.
God Bless.
anon- as far as i know there is a place right in the template section to save to the hard drive. that's what i did. future would probably be able to give you more details- he backs up his back ups :)
dan'l- it is no different than switching your official blogger template. so- don't panic :)
betmo...
I don't see one so if it's there I can't find it.
God Bless.
anon- go to the layout part in your template- there are tabs at the top- pick the one labeled 'edit html' it will say at the top to save a copy of the template- should save right to your hard drive. try it and let me know. :)
Nope, it don't say that anywhere on my template tab. I go to dashboard and click on template choice and it brings up the template.
This is where I update my links from. At the bottom it gives a save template changes, preview and clear edits.
There is no save to hard drive. I do not know if this is because I don't do my posts from home and upload them so that my be the case.
However thanks for trying to help.
God Bless.
Thanks for the link! I'm thinkin' I'm (over)due for a change.
Anon-p; if you made it to the "Edit HTML" page, then just ctrl-a to select all of the text on that page, and hit ctrl-c to copy it.
Then open a Wordpad (assuming you're using Winders, of course) and hit ctrl-v in order to paste your template. Save that file (with whatever name you'd like and where You'll remember it! :))
Then you can go through the standard Blogger replace-template rigamarole.
michaelbains...
I highlight all the template from the bottom up and copy and paste in Notepad.
I had a problem and tried to replace the template with the one I had saved and it wouldn't except it.
So I lost a post and had to rewrite it from the text copy I had saved on my computer.
When you save it in Wordpad what is the extension? .txt, .doc, or what?
I'll try that like you posted tomorrow as I still have a few sites to check than hit the hay as I get up for work at 4:30am.
Thanks and I'll check back to see what extension I should be using when I save it.
God Bless.
