she needs a home
this kitten is currently living on my porch in a box because the people who had her- left her after they were asked to leave their premises. so- they left her. she is probably 6-8 months old and is really friendly. she loves being talked to and petted and comes when you call.
all of the shelters in a 50 mile radius of binghamton are full. how is that possible? well, i am still seething about this- they have to be extra careful and screen every applicant because of the illegal pit bull fights in this area. these 'people' adopt pets from local shelters- the old animals no one wants- or the non adoptables usually. they pose as families and have even used kids to go into the shelters to look the part. they take these animals and put them in the ring with a pit bull to "fight." it is brutal and torturous and these animals die a horrifying death.
so- since i have 2 rescued cats and only 6 small rooms- i need to find a place for her. it's ok for her to stay on the porch temporarily- but there are other animals out there and when the weather turns- what can i do? so- if you live in new york or are willing to travel- i'll buy the litter box and litter and the first round of food. veterinary history is unknown but i think it is safe to say that if these assholes took off and left her- they didn't take her to the vet. she is healthy and loving and plays without scratching. she likes wet food and i haven't given her treats yet. if you are interested or know of a reputable good home- let me know and we can email logistics. thanks.

I'd take her - but I live in kansas. Our sally could use a friend.
She is a cutie!
She does look lovable. People that abandon animals are lower than a snakes belly. I'm in California...no can do...sorry. It wonderful that you are trying to help though.
She looks absolutely adorable. If I didn't have two already, I would be so tempted. My oldest sister spent her life rescuing animals. So did my dad. So have I. A family trait, I guess. (You know that's a mean trick, don't you? Putting that adorable picture up there so us bleeding heart animal lovers will lose sleep over this cat?) Methinks thou fiendish plan might work, ye buxom lass...(I'm guessing on the buxom.)
I would so take her!!!! She is adorable!
I have 3 rescued cats myself, but trust me, if I did not live so far away, I'd make room for another...
There is a special place in hell for people who run and watch dogfighting. It's a huge problem down here too...a lot of that happening on the other side of the border. I know of several groups that go down to Tijuana to rescue dogs that have been forced into a life of fighting. Makes my heart bleed.
How I would love to get my hands on some of these folks who run dogfights...
I cant believe people do this, Betmo.
That passes for entertainment? Sick.
She is classically cute. I hate it when people neglect, abandon or abuse their pets. I know you'll find her a home quickly....
She looks just like the cat I had as a child. We named her Sylvester, but then she had a litter of kittens.
She is so cute B, You no I would take her if I could. I fully agree with Bluegrlll. These so called men that do this to animals should be put away for life. I don't see a difference between the animal and a person. If they could kill the dog they love so much in such a violent way then how long untill a person. I've gotta stop now the subject drives me crazy
This whole story about the pit bull 'fights' is unfathomable. I have never heard of anything like this, but I live in Canada, so...
To what depths has your culture descended? Is this the psychological collateral damage done by the military industrial complex, and a society that sees violence as the solution to nearly every problem?
Gen. Norman Schwarzkopf once said that there are many things you can do with a sword, but you couldn't just sit on it. With your country spending more on the military than the rest of the world put together, the sword must be wielded often, or allowed to rust. The latter solution rarely occurs to your governments. The biblical idea of beating the sword into a plowshare is verboten, off the table. Too many jobs would be lost in the 'defense' industry. Meanwhile (some of)the people get twisted into something terrible to behold.
I'm ranting. Sorry if 'topic creep' has taken me too far from the original subject. This is just shocking.
What a sweetie! Looks delicious. I'm a horrid, horrid person.
No, I have been known to rescue cats from time to time, and I appreciate your plight. Really, what's one more cat? You don't reach crazy old cat lady until you reach four, anyway.

sad- i have wondered that too. i have said repeatedly to my friend- who is most likely going to take her since there isn't anyone willing to do so- that i don't belong here anymore. i am a woman without a country. i think my area of america pretty much is a microcosm of the rest of the country- we are a nice city overall. our infrastructure is old and crumbling- leftovers from the post world war 2 era boom in the economy. we have nice neighborhoods with pockets of trash in them. it is like a bruise on an apple. if you don't cut it out- it spoils the whole apple.
well the bruise is pretty big on the american apple.
we are damned if we do and don't- if i move out of the country- i will still be a target because of where i came from. if i stay, i might end up eventually in an internment camp for being a dissenter. no win situation. perhaps i should just do a post :)
bing- i have the crazy part already. :) i actually call myself- the cat whisperer :)
