environmental monday

as most everyone knows, al gore testified about global warming and its effects before congress last week. the right was unimpressed and still clings to the outmoded idea that we don't have to do anything to save the planet- because it is their god given right to take from it what they want- and make immense profits doing so. in spite of them, al gore was able to take 520,000 signatures or so with him to capital hill- and more were still printing- from fellow citizens like you and me. you see- many americans 'get it.'

i read in the paper this week about 'community farming'- where members pay fees for a season and farmers grow and transport the goodies to the local farmer's market. now, i didn't research this through- but i will post a website that gives info and locations near you. from what i can see, this is a good way to get fresh, organic produce and what not- and help out your local farms and communities. localharvest.org

addendum: fyi- binghamton is ranked ninth out of a list of ten- from around the country as 'green spaces.' not bad. also, here is today's editorial from the press and sun bulletin- thought it was kind of neat.

Actually they have I believe 2 coop in the city. It is a good idea I don't know if it could work in isolated areas

It's amazing how fast the right started to smear Gore. To me, that shows they believe him, but don't want to admit they were wrong. We have a coop here - good stuff.

The right had already decided what they though. They didn't give him a chance. This is really a shame.

PeaceChick nailed it, re Gore. The right rarely, if ever, discuss issues. Instead, they prefer to shoot the messenger - and the scary part is, it usually works for them!!
