organizations of interest- the slave trade

many folks don't realize that there is a worldwide slave trade. it goes on every hour of every day in every country on the planet. yes, even here in america. most slaves are young children and most are young girls sold into the sex slave trade and prostitution. it could happen to anyone anywhere- and it isn't highly publicized for obvious reasons. take a moment and familiarize yourselves with a few organizations who are working to stop this practice. it could save the life of a child.

Domestic help brought in to the US under false pretenses...wage slaves tethered to their jobs in perpetuity...migrant workers toiling for what is essentially slave wages.

A very worthy cause to post on Betmo!

thanks for the links! and to think that some believe that slavery was abolished...

i tmakes me sick - not only that this happens, but that there are people out there who actually continue on with such a horrifying, disgusting practice. :(

Betmo, that is just so sad. Thanks for those links. Another part of the sad reality, that the more things change, the more things stay the same.

I knew you couldn't stay "postless with nothing to say" for long!:)

I think it was you, who left a comment on my post about women abuse, that said (paraphrasing now): "America has so many problems they can't focus on one for very long, then it's on to the next one."

This is horrible proof of the truth of your words...(: Wonderful post, Betmo!!
