organization of interest

i recently updated my links for armed services organizations and it is by no means comprehensive. i wanted to highlight an organization i read about in december's edition of national geographic magazine- and i thought it was fantastic. not many of america's 'patriots' are aware but over 20,000 american troops have been severely injured- many with traumatic brain injuries and limbs being blown off. these folks aren't publicized much because of all of the cutting of services that the 109th congress and the bush administration have been doing. it tends to be a bit embarrassing to folks who want to 'stay the course' and keep sending our young men and women into a hopeless situation for whatever flimsy excuse is out there at the moment. don't get me started. so- the wounded warrior project was started to help our service men and women and their families survive in an america that i guess feels that they are best forgotten because it is uncomfortable- kinda like talking about how we, the people, have allowed torture to be put on the table as an actual viable option- but i digress. i commend organizations such as the wounded warrior project for stepping up to assist our veterans and their families in their time of need and i denounce the american government for saying one thing and then doing another. if we are going to send these folks into harm's way, then we damned well better pay for it out of our tax dollars. there is absolutely no excuse whatsoever.

This seems like an excellent organization Betmo. Thanks for posting on it. I don't think there could be a more worthy cause.

CNN has been doing some great specials about the wounded.

It's just so sad that their care isn't considered as important as Halliburton's bank book.

Right on Betmo. Our returning men and women need total support and care.

As a nineteen year old soldier drafted and sent to Vietnam, I was told that I'd never have to worry about health care for the rest of my life. That is not the case for many. I get health care now, but not before I had to fight many long years for my rightful benefits. Too many returning Veterans go without because of the quagmire of bureaucracy.

Every Veteranm is and was willing to give something of themselves as they serve their country. Society wants their services as a killer, and each Veteran has lost some part of themselves as they perform their duty. It's the least we can do to take care of their wounds, both physical and emotional, for the rest of their lives.

Thanks for the post.

I love hearing about people who stand up and do the right thing in the face of dire abuse by our gov. Good stuff from Betmo as usual.

betmo puts the Ultimate Responsibility where it truly lays. With We the People.

It's a National Shame that the People Abdicated their responsibility and let the Warmongers start the American-Vietnamese War and the way they were cast offed by the People was a Crime.

War with Iraq is a Nightmare returned. Just a few days ago I saw that the Unemployed rate among returning Vets was shooting up. I remember well the slogan "Don't Forget Higher A Vet". Seemed to my child eyes, that not many people paid action to that slogan.

Since we failed in Our Responsibility to keep Our Democracy and the Government accountable, thereby causing the American-Iraq War, it's imperative to correct what we can. We must Accept the Returning Veterans as Brothers and Sisters.

I'll link the org. at my place too.
Thanks betmo.

I just posted about a new Friendly . He and his wife are based in Iraq.
His last post is a must read by every American.

Peace
