the more things change...

i am not seeing much of anything different from the right these days even after getting their ass handed to them. sure, they pay lip service to the 'will of the people' and what not- but now they have decided to try and resurrect his holiness- ronald reagan. yes, that's right- in order to win back the government and to win in 2008 (and yes, i am afraid that they are at it already for 2008) they have decided to go back in time and try and reinvent themselves in order to woo back pissed moderates. hannity said on his radio show tuesday- that he had spent a good chunk of the day reading reagan's speeches. hopefully, he learned something- as reagan was known as 'the great communicator.' at any rate, don't for a moment think that we are done. yes, we voted- but bush and 'his congress' still have a few weeks in which to do their dirty work. we are not in the clear by a long shot. and while madam pelosi and mr. reid and all of the other dems are wasting time deciding who is going to go where- bush and his ilk are plotting to re-take the congress and the presidency in 2008. forewarned is forearmed- that's all i'm saying.

in other news, wrapping up some older stories and some newer ones- iraqi officials are stating that as many as 150,000 iraqis have died as a result of mr. bush's war- and i read today in the december edition of national geographic- that 20,000 american troops have been wounded. bit different than our official tallies.

and, while we are busy believing in jesus; procreating to insure the white american race continues to dominate minorities; hating gays and protecting innocent embryos, the rest of the western world and beyond becomes more enlightened. south africa, of all places, approved gay marriages as england already has- and australia has approved stem cell cloning.

looks like we are getting closer to the fall of rome and farther away from being leader of the free world. makes you feel like singing the star spangled banner dudn't it?

Oh, Ronald Reagan can KISS my ASS. Fuck that Great Communicator shit. Hubby was a fireman during Reagan's reign and he (as a civil servant) didn't get a raise for the ENTIRE 8 years Regan was in office. Senile old bastard. I despised him. And it infuriates me to hear people praise his glory. And his stoned-out wife unit, too.

Yeah, a lot of high-profile Republicans are saying how Bush should have let Rumsfeld go before the elections so they would not have done as bad.

It's still all about winning for them, not that an earlier Rumsfeld departure might have saved lives, not that going public about Foley earlier might have protected young adults.

With the GOP it is all about winning, that has not changed.

it completely baffles me. their grasp on reality is so thin. they continue to say that we can make something happen in iraq- when real opinions say that we sqandered our chance. they continue to say that the economy is booming- when the housing market is going flat and consumer confidence indexes all say that they are falling. not to mention that all of the folks who have been unemployed have either run out of unemployment bennies or taken lesser paying jobs to survive and are therefore off of unemployment figures- so that magically translates into unemployment is down. don't even get me started on environmental topics.

i can't even wrap my head around the fact that they will not let actual honest to goodness hard facts deter them from their fantasy of how they want to see things. it would be sad if they weren't taking america down with them.

I agree with Hill. I never did like Reagan, not even the least little bit. To hear people sing his praises really irks me.

I'll sing all right - loud and clear when they haul these cheap, slime buckets out of our government. Actually, people pay me a lot of money not to sing, so maybe not.
