it has occurred to me over the last few months- that we americans are pretty busy. whether we have to be as busy as we are- remains to be seen. we are busy. it also occurred to me that we use that as an excuse not to be civically involved- and that is why we have elected officials. well, the boss needs to get involved. these folks are obviously not doing their jobs well and it is review time.
i was also thinking that politics in general is not where my heart is- i would much prefer concentrating my efforts on education reform; environmental concerns; helping to end world poverty and health problems. unfortunately, i can't do that because i have to work on getting my constitution back from the hands of people who would shred it for their own ends.
so- i am fighting for my life and yours. i encourage you to join me. we need to keep pressure on our elected officials by calling, writing, emails, and petitions. all of us email various people every day- why not just add our elected officials emails into our list of addresses? it would take 2 minutes to shoot off an email- and i know that i often spend at least an hour in the evening tooling around on the internet.

quasar- there have been too many folks having to quit these days. there aren't enough of us as is. besides, my strength lies in cheerleading folks into action. i truly believe if we are all actively doing what we can do- we can win. time management is also a strong point of mine. sometimes we think that something is going to take longer than it actually does.
Your practical resources for action are welcome. Thanks for understanding what the real deal is.
That's all well and good, but what's a damn furriner up in Canada to do? Believe it or not, we want regime change too. In your country as well as ours, but mostly in yours. It feels like 1936 Poland up here.

Ten minutes: Well, we're the microwave society for one. Gotta get it done "right now", for reasons unknown. I'm retired. I own, and use daily: A cell phone, a PDA, and a pager. Now granted, I use them to help my wife in her job, but still......
We are "connected" as never before....and unconnected as never before!! Somewhere we redefined reality...and we were wrong.

Cynicism and ideology (meaning false consciousness as racism, sexism etc) are the barriers.
we are trying to get Rep Carson to sprak with students and I'm after her challenger. My goal this year is to get more pols into the classroom for my kids

I can't say I do it everyday, but I do it several times a month. Unfortunately, my Rep is GOP, and both my Senators, so we do not have much in common.
I read yesterday where Cornyn, R-Texas, has become the Bush point man in the Senate on trying to bypass the Geneva Convention. Unfortunately, my fellow Texans will probably re-elect him in a couple years.
