i don't pretend to know the ins and outs of rap or hip-hop. i am a jazz, classical and soft rock kinda gal. i was impressed by
jay-z's announcement that he wants to help folks in other countries who don't have enough access to clean water. we hear about bono's and u2's efforts to help ease the rest of the planet's woes- but we don't often hear of younger stars- and more notably young rap or hip hop artists make the news for their humanitarian efforts. so- i thought that i would highlight some good and positive in the country- before blogger shuts down tonite.

Blogger still is having heartburn..bastages..
Good for jay-z..I appreciate him a little now..most of the young set is so self-centered.
If we all do a little, it will help a lot, I think.
"before blogger shuts down tonite," lol, been there, done that. As for JayZ, I hope this turns out better than Puff Daddy and MTV's Vote or Die thing...
Jay Z is great.Check out his Black album. Another rapper with a conscious is Mos Def. Hip-Hop gets a bad "rap". There are some very talented men and woman saying a lot of great things.
It sounds to me like "Jay-Z's" PR people did one hell of a job. If he has such a burning desire to help "the young people of other countries," may I suggest he practice up here at home - by helping to squash the 90% of rap crap that is profane, encourages violence, racism, and civil unrest. Another George Bush Academy graduate. Leaves his own country in disrepair while "fixing" others. Sorry, I just don't buy into him or his "social work." When he CANCELS a tour to get fresh water for other countries, then perhaps we can talk.
Yeah Rap! Rap and politics
made for each other >>>>
can't have rap without politics
can't have politics without rap
And it soes get the message across
musicians play songs
they make money and spend it
some do some good things
No seasonal theme, but then, I'm not in Japan.
BOOM BOOM, CHING
BOOM BOOM, CHING
my name is joe and I’m here to say that the politics is crazy in a messy way.
They don’t want peace, they can’t say love, the olive branch is missing like the mourning dove.
We gotta fight on, like we’re in the hunt. Our country’s losing ground on a lot of fronts.
Call up the man, tell em’what for, make sure you point em’ to the exit door.
Go to the polls, cast your lot. Change the direction of this angry pot -ful of haters, cheaters and the rest, put em’ in a sack and make them pass the test.
Try to get out of that sack in the lake. The fate of our country is what we have at stake.
Hip-Hop or Rap?
spado- i am as square as they come- don't ask me. however, if you ever give up travelling as your day job- you could have a career as the new american idol! :)
Betmo, you're no square.
I am an American idol to my youngest Granddaughter!
