from spadoman

i found this story over at heart melody. figured since i am not writing anything original for a bit- i would pass this along.

"Cathy Berta is a retired elementary schoolteacher. At 66, she’s also a member of Progressive Action for the Common Good of the Quad Cities.

When she heard that Vice President Cheney was coming to Davenport, Iowa, on July 17, she decided to heed the group’s protest call.

“I knew it was going to be extremely hot that day, but I said I’m going to take a stand,” she recalls. She joined about 120 people along River Road next to the Mississippi, and they marched part way toward the home where Cheney was doing a fundraiser for the Republican House candidate, Mike Whalen.

“It was absolutely ridiculous,” says a 66-year-old retired
schoolteacher, who had her flagstick taken away. “Talk about overkill.”
Berta was carrying a sign that said: “No, You Can’t Have My Rights, I’m Still Using Them.”

And she was also holding a little American flag on a stick.

But the police wouldn’t let her, or anyone else, carry the flags."

story continued

only in the "land of the free and home of the brave."

Betmo, Love the Mandala & poem on previous post. Magical!
Have a nice break over the weekend
Don't take it all on yourself
A soldier takes his pay
then he goes out to play
A fighter chooses his call
playing soccer with a cannon ball
A peacemaker takes his call
just another mobile in the mall

What a shame! An absolute fascist state of mind... Where, oh where, has my country gone?

I think that what you just read was a very savy PR rep for Cheny (think Rove) saw an opportunity to classify those flags as "weapons" in order to make sure media coverage of the protest was devoid of anything "patriotic".

I think that if the protesters would have either altered course, or decided to really raise a stink, or perhaps just gotten really inovaive and removed the flags from the "pointed" sticks they could have circumvented it.

Either way, the fact that the flags were taken away will get very little coverage, and any pictures taken of them will be noteably void of anything patriotic.

NOTE: Next time bring poster painted flags to foil the plot.

Well, of course those pesky protesters can't carry the flag. Pesky protesters aren't patriotic. WTF has happened to our country?

g..thanks for the tips on how to circumvent the gestapo police state we are headed towards.

Does georgie and the boys know you are a double agent? (insert smile and dial up your sense of humor here, please)

Hi betmo, not so much that I don't care but if I can't do anything about it, (and even if I can) there is no point in worying about it.
It's one of those unfathomables toothache, sometimes you think unless you get something radical done you are gonna die of the pain, then for no reason the pain slips away. But, if we ignore the root of the problem we know the the problem is going to come back worse.

PS - Some would say like teeth we should fix one problem at a time. Some problems just like being in the limelight, and yet again some problems are wholly staged to justify other actions

pentagonstrike

Wishing you a great weekend.

Sadly, I think we may see this more often.

Thanks for weighing in on our discussion over at 'My Journey'. I responded to your comment on the 'As for Me and My House' post.

Quasar9, those are deep thoughts you've expressed in a simple little poem. Did you write this?

QUASAR9:

my biggest question with this thing is what was it then, and why would they lie about it?

What is the alternate theory then about what hit the pentagon, and what subsequently happened to flight 77?

I've seen a lot of things about this not being a downed 747, but I've never seen ANY counter theories.. at all?
