I am kidding of course, but the USA looks nothing liek the place i was taught in school. If any of this is true, we are all FUCKED!

But rememer that Rome did too fall and this empire is on the way down. Let's hope its fall is not too ugly.

interesting? yes
realistic? No
Always remember, in the end democracy will prevail and you may be surprised how good human nature really is. I am going to look into the orders and see which admin they were created by. Tyranny comes from the far left as well as the far right.

Those orders have been aroud since the Ford admin

Spadoman said...

obob.....post proof that those orders have been around since the Ford administration. Otherwise, I can't even begin to believe what you say.

Was FEMA around during the Ford administration? I think not since it was created by Jimmy Carter in 1979.

Orders, to help keep order in the throes of chaos, have been around, but this administration takes things too far and harrasses people in a discriminatory way.

Peace activists are held at bay, people of color attacked in New Orleans during the Katrina disaster are but two samll examples.

You paint a rosy picture for democracy. I'll do my best to get rid of the current dictator and pray for peace in this world.

Please don't reply to what I have to say to you, I am close-minded and don't want to hear rebuttal.

We would never have imagined that a US government would start a war that was not necessary either, but it did. Sadly I have no reason not to believe this. I sure as hell wish I did.

I liked Truth and Pain's comment on Saphio's post:

Love you Sappho and other lefties out there, but if one were to believe the viability of all executive orders signed since Woodrow Wilson we would all be "scared feces-less".
Not that this is not active law and rote, but the Federal Government has purview and plans for implementing emergency maneuvers as they see fit for every possible contigency. How do you think the Japanese interments of WW2 happened?. It has been that way since the turn of the century. Read some of the executive orders signed under Jimmy Carter, you would never think he was a Democrat. Let's all bake down the paranoia folks. Reading every piece of dog-verbiage coming out of the executive branch can raise your blood pressure, and what good is that?... :)

well- i think that not having your blood pressure raised once in awhile is what got us into the mess that we are in at this point. i have no reason to disbelieve that this will happen in light of the domestic spying, the secret prisons, circumventing fisa, consolidating power into the executive branch, the overarching imperialistic attitude of the current regime. you have to have all of the puzzle pieces. where is all of the missing money from the middle east? katrina? the federal government agencies? what is it going to fund? my theory is that the current regime will not want to give up power in '08. many people have said that this is a dictatorship in its 'embryonic stages' and i can't say as i disbelieve them. i really hope that i am wrong. i want to be wrong- but i have to look at the evidence. so far, the evidence is pointing me in a direction that says that this may very well come to fruition. we need to have our blood pressures raised folks because this government is not benign and it is not benevelont and it does not have our best interests in mind.

btw- all but 2 of these executive orders were signed by kennedy in 1962. one was signed by johnson in 1966 and the other ford in 1976.

Betmo.....And others.

This site pertains to this posting. Take a look

http://www.alternet.org/story/36553/

The executive orders have been in place and should be to avoid a chaotic overtaking of our society and government in the face of tragedy.
My problem is with this administrations track record on lawmaking, (and adhering to it), and other losses of freedom said to be because we need to be secure, and their unfair discriminatory record of arrests and harrassment, I am afraid that they will use the above stated executive orders to put the regular populace in jail.

Look at what is already happening. E-mail and internet tracking of individuals based on the site they go to. Library records based on what books you take out to read. People like Cindy Shehan and multiple other war protestors for mounting a protest against the Bush regime. The list goes on and on.

I trusted my government enough to put my life on the line in Vietnam. I will defend my Constitution to the death if need be. I've proven that I was willing already. I don't want my rights to go away because of an extreme radical approach to security.

It took the government 5 years to put Zacharias Moussoui in jail after 9/11. That's an example of how interested this administration really is as far as security goes. I want to keep my God given rights.

glad I got to help get people thinking, job done. Betmo, you rock and I am flattered as always you let join in you circle

tp- you have a standing invite. you just have to jump in and get dirty. :)

obob- as always spicing things up here. it is a pleasure to have dissenting views or views that agree but are in a different light. i want to be wrong but i really don't think that i am. i really don't put anything past this government because they don't behave the way government should. they certainly don't listen to their constituents.

did anyone else read the alternet post? very illuminating to say the least. i think that i will have to compile another list of areas to focus my attention on. i don't have the wherewithall to focus everywhere- and i need a direction.
