anyone else confused?

bush urges west point cadets to spread democracy- apparently by silencing the free speech of their alumni who are outspoken against the war in iraq. must be that 'compassionate conservative' democracy in action.

Bush thinks he's above the law. He doesn't seem to think that the constitution applies to him. It's disgusting how he ignores laws and does whatever he wants to feed his own greed and the American people just accept it.

Maybe he'd do more good by urging them to complete their committment! That's one subject he's expert on.

I'm no lawyer (...I sometimes pretend to be one in the shower--I can't sing worth a damn) but having readthe story and actually gone to the West Point graduates site this lawyers letter reeks of bullshittitude.
1, they aren't using "West Point" for commercial gain, and as gradutes they aren't representing West Point.
2, The ARE West Point graduates and thus entitled to employ the term.

Being West Point graduates I;ve no doubt they won'tt put up with this shit.

Thats what I love about Publius,... always the pragmatist. Not only does he not get caught in the rant/counter rants,.. but he give you exactly where to write for customer complaints. And by the way, I agree with him when he says about the approval ratings. If American people "just accept it" then why the hell are his numbers at the same level as whale poop?
What a great way to come back from my blog-depravated weekend :)

publius, I may just do that if I get some time. I know that the poll numbers are low (yes!) however, how many of those people who have turned against Bush are informed as to how corrupt the administration is? Most of the people that I know who have turned on Bush have made the decision because of only a few things, mainly the Iraq war or the domestic spying fiasco. I bet if you asked them, they wouldn't know anything about what happened with Jefferson. I don't think most people know the extent to which the Bush administration has not followed the law. Maybe i'm wrong, but in my experience Americans aren't all that informed and tend to accept what the media says. They are getting fed up with Bush, but I don't think they know the extent of his corruption.
