reality check

i spent a few years blogging and investigating via the internet....and with each piece of information, my mom and i put together what we saw happening to this country and what we thought would happen....and i did a fair amount of writing and pleading and yelling at people to try and make them 'do something'....and i couldn't understand why....i still have some bouts of frustration about it...

but i understand a bit better now....i understand the bewilderment and the anger and the fear....the waves of hopelessness and powerlessness and helplessness...i have felt it too....and i also feel bitterness and anger at times at my country and at my fellow americans...for ruining my country and my planet for greed's sake....

mom and i talked about what we could expect out of the future...the impending collapse of our entire system- economics; water wars; food shortages...a new civil war based on ideology of right versus left instead of geography of north and south- although, the two are not mutually exclusive...the power structure versus the rest of us....and it's coming....

and we are here at the start of another silly season and there are many of us who are being brainwashed and/or bullied to vote for people who are not in our best interests...we are being served up a big heaping plate of 'lesser of two evils' casserole again...and no one who spews that nonsense offers to hold their party accountable....they don't offer to hold their incumbents or their candidates to a higher standard....they don't agitate for a better way....they believe that their vote is sacred and once it is cast- they have done what they needed to do for their country....

and they bully people with integrity...people who understand that this country is over and has been for some time....people who understand that the election system, and every system, has been corrupted and co-opted in order to maintain the status quo....to give the illusion of choice and democracy....to keep us fighting each other for scraps....

we have come to the end of the line with this grand experiment....soon, we will have no choice but to pick a side- oppressed or oppressor....and our votes won't matter then either....

Nice to see you back.

Can't disagree.

I can add the oppressors will have half the oppressed working against the other half who resist the corrupt power of wealth over democracy.

At least we have lived to see the best of our nation's times...Which is why we see the decline so vividly.

I blame the Right as well as the indifference of most Americans.

Things could have been better if more of us voted in the past thirty years, especially in mid-terms. The people are way to the left of the political class but have not asserted that fact by voting.

It's too late now. The plutocracy has won.

As Yeats wrote:

The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.
