or should i say (s)election day musings.....we have the best candidates money can buy because the folks who want to run who aren't rich or richly sponsored- aren't voted for...
i know that there are folks out there who honestly believe that voting makes a difference- that america is still a land of freedoms and choices...and that's ok because that fantasy helps make reality more palatable...it's why folks believe in god i suppose...
looking at what is real- curfews, police beating americans, americans being detained for massing, americans being jailed for gathering, women's rights eroded daily at a local, state and federal level, americans being detained for being non white and of spanish descent...
i could go on and on...but the picture is clear enough- the natives are growing restless because many americans from all walks of life- right, left, center, young, old, white, non white, male and female- are realizing that america isn't america...the democratic ideal is a sham- just as there is no 'american dream' with a white picket fence there isn't a democracy that welcomes the tired and poor from elsewhere to be free
hell, we don't even welcome our own tired and poor- all 50 million of us and the illusion of freedom is simply that- illusion. for some reason unknown to me- folks here don't easily extrapolate things- like the fact that america is renditioning folks in other countries and detaining them indefinitely and has the power to do so to fellow americans- and in fact is....the police brutality towards demonstrators around the country was shocking to many- why? we americans don't really give a rat's ass about anyone else as long as it doesn't touch us and our immediate circle- but civil liberties can be taken from anyone and we don't have real rule of law here anymore...
anyhoo, the ruling class is getting nervous- and they think they know us sheeple pretty well, and perhaps they do...winter is coming and many states will see the occupiers go home- if they have one- and the ruling class will breath a sigh of relief because they know that we'll take out our frustrations at the ballot box- and they feel pretty secure about that outcome...

Finding Freedom in Handcuffs | Truthout
Finding Freedom in Handcuffs | Truthout
"We seemed to have lost, at least until the advent of the Occupy Wall Street movement, not only all personal responsibility but all capacity for personal judgment. Corporate culture absolves all of responsibility. This is part of its appeal. It relieves all from moral choice."
