in the end

we 'conspiracy theorists' will be exonerated in the court of public opinion. or, we'll be arrested and tortured and thrown in prison for the rest of our lives. those of us who were lone voices here and there throughout the blogosphere were ridiculed and told we were crazy by our 'allies' and reviled and threatened by the right wing. it's why i don't mind indulging in a bit of 'i told you so' because obama and pelosi and reid- none are doing much- if anything- to overturn or repeal the cheney/rumsfeld era power grabs.

it's why i won't fight for this country anymore. i would certainly not put my life on the line in the name of american democracy. many folks in this country are in denial or they are simply ignorant and don't want to be bothered. after 8 years of complete rethuglican rule- you would think that they would know better. and still.... they listen to the right and give the left the benefit of the doubt. there is really not much left of the constitution but people are out there rah rahing as if nothing has been shredded. open your eyes and ears. unfortunately, apparently, it's already too late.

"Though it received very little press attention, it is not hyperbole to observe that this October 23 Memo was one of the most significant events in American politics in the last several decades, because it explicitly declared the U.S. Constitution -- the Bill of Rights -- inoperative inside the U.S., as applied to U.S. citizens. You said a mouthful, hon. I completely understand where you are coming from. I get so tired of screaming common sense into an empty room that I merely shut my mouth when other sprout about all the "change" that's coming and I can see that with our two-party political system, the new boss is still the old boss with a more fashionable suit.

It's a well-known that humans are prone to wishful thinking and living in denial because we are having to deal with the cognitive dissonance of living in a country that is supposed to be so great while simultaneously noting that our Constitution is in tatters and the folks we keep electing consistently make things worse rather than better. On top of that, many voters are taking note that their team (Dem/Rep) is not any better than the other team and that contorts the mind even more.

I like reading your blog because it's obvious you get that ;) I get tired of reading blogs where every acts like everything is going to be hunky-dory now that there is Dem in the WH or those that wax nostalgic for the Bush/Cheney days. It's enough to make my head explode.

What I find completely mind-boggling is the fact that party faithful (name your party) only notice the deterioration of the Constitution and our rights when the other guy is in power, but they suddenly go deaf dumb and blind when their guy is in the power seat. I've lost patience with dealing with such sheep.
