heroes

it is tough to find a hero in the modern world. there are a whole lotta folks only out for themselves. it's sad. but pulling out the weeds- you do find flowers- and one person continues to stand for integrity, honesty, and true compassion:

jimmy carter.

thank you president carter- may you live to be 1,000.

Make that 2,000. Carter was the most compassionate humanitarian President this Nation ever had. Most importantly, his honesty and integrity were without equal. Many took his kindness as weakness. What a shame. *sigh* :(

Bonjour Betmo,

It all depends on the definition of the word "hero".

To me, only to me, a hero is someone who sacrifices himself for the common good. Like the Swiss Winkelried.

bonjour georg! well, throwing oneself into the fray- so to speak- doesn't have to mean impaling oneself on pikes :) winkelried may have won the battle but we are still fighting the same war against the same types of folks in positions of power. i, for one, do not intend to be heroic.

president carter has done so much good for the entire planet- the entire good- perhaps we can change the tone of the word 'hero'?

Bonjour Betmo,

We may not fully agree on who is or is not a hero. But the fact that you took the pains to look up who is Winkelried gives you credit. Very much so.

Cheers Betmo,
let's be curious all the time.
