juan cole

is always right on the money. here are his thoughts on al quaeda

my own sincere hope is that we stop wallowing in 9/11 ceremonies and commemorations. not because i am unsympathetic to the families- but because they have moved on and apparently, we haven't. we don't have commemorations to the folks in oklahoma anymore. i wonder if that is because it was domestic terrorism or because we lost interest and moved on to 9/11? it's time to stop putting flowers and crosses by the side of the road folks. the 9/11 stuff is simply being exploited now.

9/11 is a political tool used to keep people afraid, and to misdirect us away from the real issues like health care, dependence on fossil fuels, the recession, poverty, food shortages.

Divajood told the truth, imo. 9/11 had "furriners" we could hate. That made it even better. Hate + Fear = Republican Elections.

Then include the God vs Allah artificial controversy......the perfect Republican storm. Firriners, God, Hate, Fear. It doesn't get any better.

I'm beginning to conclude the lesson of September 11th is simply this:

We will never learn our lesson.
