very sad

"Over the past week, American media have achieved one thing for sure: They have lost prestige among a generation of young Russians who believed that America is a country of true, uncorrupted, independent information. Many Russian youths come to the United States for college and then go back to Russia to help build our own democracy. Russians believe in democracy. But I don't know whether many Russians will ever trust American media reports again.

U.S. newspapers have lost esteem among Russian journalists as well. These reporters have long looked to American newspapers as icons of quality journalism. They are supposed to stand for truth and serve the people's interests. But whose interests did newspapers serve by publishing stories in the best traditions of the Cold War?"

“In the old days under Soviet rule we didn't believe a word of our own propaganda but we thought that information was free in the West and we longed for it,” said Katya, a middle-aged Muscovite. “But we have learnt since that the West has its own propaganda and in some ways it is more powerful because people believe it.”

talk about slanted journalism- apparently, the brits got bitten too

ah betmo...but it's not about democracy those silly russians.. have i been here too long and have I become to cynical? It's hard not to be when all the hard evidence is actually out there to show the world what it is about..(posted on that this morning)..
but..still, to lose hope or to face disillusion when once hoped is very sad. I think that is the reason most Americans are too afraid and are conveniently helped to stay in that same illusion with all the media entertainment and distractions..

Betmo
You know my recurring story line pertaining to 100% everything in this country since Bush including MSM and that is we are living a lie and are being totally controlled. The Forever war is almost going and everything will get much worse. You think prices are bad now, wait?

It's too bad they had to get a godsmack over something we've known here for a long, long time.

But do they really think that what they're getting is some form of democracy?

The Russians may be slow learners, but at least they ARE learning. That's more than we can say for the majority of Americans.

Ooops, gotta go.....American Idol is coming on. Honey, grab me a beer!;)

Americans have been deliberately dumbed down to accept the black and white world the government manipulated media paint for them.

Without color and shades of grey, the public are putty in the hands of right wing government.
