is cheney fiddling?

"We have a subprime financial system," he said, "not a subprime mortgage market."

"The United States, Roubini went on, will likely muddle through the crisis but will emerge from it a different nation, with a different place in the world. "Once you run current-account deficits, you depend on the kindness of strangers," he said, pausing to let out a resigned sigh. "This might be the beginning of the end of the American empire."

Nouriel Roubini, economics professor at New York University

This is the natural end of any societal life cycle. It does not take an expert. I saw it beginning in the early 70s and it is now too far along to turn around though bush and the right did this on purpose and need it to implement their new version!

I'd say there's no "might" to it. Hang on, folks. The rides about to lose its wheels...

You have that right! With Bush running short of time things are really speeding up as expected. Just wait for the fall. This is still just beginning and will get much worse as Bush has yet to do his worst!

I wish it were not so, but methinks it's picking up momentum from the huge vacuum that the empire and in particular its Emperor, George, has left in his wake...

""This might be the beginning of the end of the American empire."
And the beginning of the New World Order.

The poetry man and the future was yesterday
You are both right but after 8 years of trying to wake anyone up this is not the beginning it is now too far along to turn around. Be very concerned as to this fall. Bush has yet to do his worst and then there is McAssHole he will be worse!
