global climate change is not just inevitable

it is happening.

it has been happening. there isn't any doubt- and those who argue that there is- are willfully ignorant and probably corrupt. anyway, my question now is- what now? we know it's here and we know what causes it- but from what i am hearing around the sciencephere- there isn't much in the way of real solutions forthcoming. the natural cycle that the earth had is gone. completely overwhelmed by the sheer volume of emissions that we not only continue to put out- as a planet- but in numbers that are the highest that they have ever been.

so- i want to know- what, if anything, can we do now?

the oceans cannot absorb more- they are acidifying and large swaths are now 'oceanic deserts' from the carbon. entire ecosystems of songbirds, insects, bats, and fish- are disappearing at any alarming rate- and those are just the ones we know about. what scares me the most is the paltry amount of potable water on this planet. you can grow your own food in a pot if you have water- it wouldn't be much but you wouldn't starve. we cannot live without water. if there is continued widespread, prolonged drought- as we have been seeing here in america and throughout the rest of the globe- coupled with water pollution- i don't even want to think about it.

Water shortages in Georgia and parts of Texas, food rationing in the U.S and the list continues to grow.

Climate change is real and we are in trouble.

Hey, Betmo, I've stopped drinking water. I drink beer and wine now!

Giving up is in vogue now. I've given up on trying to change humans. Eat, drink and be merry is my new motto.

Have you planned your Doomsday Party yet? Check my site for some hints!

Take care.

It may be misleading to think of climate change only in terms of one factor. The Medieval Warm Period produced such massive and prolonged drought as to destroy the civilizations of the New World and mankind was once reduced to only a few thousand miserable refugees by a degree of change we haven't yet imagined for our own future.

Of course we need to cut CO2 and Methane emissions, but we need to look at how badly we will need water and other resources even if the climate doesn't change and we keep growing. Will it be necessary to keep most people in poverty and hunger so we don't have to join them?

Population control is essential because no matter how many tomatoes we grow on our windowsills or whether we switch to public transportation or switch off the Air conditioning, technology and forced economies cannot keep up indefinitely. Will we have to spend all our wealth keeping others from stealing our water and land?

As it is the planet simply cannot support the current population if more of us rise from abject poverty.
