i will be out of commission for much of the weekend. my friends are coming for what i deem as my official 'end of summer' gathering- and then my obligations will be done. i will not be sorry to bid farewell to august that's for sure. i don't mind warm weather- i hate muggy humidity. that's why i don't live next door to my buddy dan'l- oh and also he lives in the bible belt :)

i have had my feet scorched lately over my point of voting democratic versus whoever. i also got my fingers singed in an email over not giving a shit what happens because i don't have any progeny to worry about. but i am ok :) i put a little balm over the wounds and i can type again. here's the deal:

folks are going to vote for who they will vote for because they are angry. do i think the democratic leadership is worth anything? no- but i am lucky enough to live in a state where chuck shumer and hillary clinton- for all of their faults- have been trying in the senate- and maurice hinchey in the house. i cannot complain about that. if i lived in vermont- i'd have leahy. so- do what you want but i am not voting out of anger or displeasure- and i am voting to save what's left of the federal judicial system.

as for america being my progeny and everyone else's- i think i have been carrying quite a bit of the parenting duties- and it's the spouses' turn. or the other taxpayers because i am turning america over to the government. i meant what i said about the corruption coming from fellow americans. every single one of the people in any of our governments- are american citizens. there aren't enough of us to root out the ideologues and the masses are now turning their sites to the fact that they can't really shop like they used to. people continue to live as always- and as a good buddy of mine succinctly told me- we are getting fed much bullshit about protecting the environment and whatnot. we can do what we can do- and that's alot- but the businesses and other countries of the world don't even have our standards- so we are screwed.

really- what have i got left to post about? i preach daily to the choir here and at the sirens- people here read and nod and give me a pat on the back- and life around the world continues. people dying in iraq and africa and all over. hurricanes and tsunamis and typhoons at record strength can't change folks' minds- and the louisianians still languish. americans continue to fight for a theocracy because of stupidity; american citizens continue to subvert democracy in the name of ideology and worldview- and here i am. with my one little blog. i don't mean to sound bitter because i am not. i am tired. i am a firm believer in not saying anything if you don't have anything to say. i hate small talk and chatter- and i can't be bothered. i will be around- but don't be alarmed if i am not posting as much.

so- no- america is not my progeny. i am not leaving progeny- on purpose. these days america doesn't even feel like my home. so- yes, i am voting for maurice hinchey in 2008 and kucinich in the primaries. i will then vote hillary clinton in the general election for president. or whichever democrat gets nominated. and that's that. there's time enough to be mad later.

Betmo, Please don't leave us quite yet! I learn something new every time I come to your blog...like for instance, I now need to look up the word progeny....have you thought of becoming a teacher? If so, you'd be great at it..thanks for all you do. You do make a difference.

omg, progeny...of course, I know what that means...it was just the context in which you were using it..had to think a little more...thanks again.

You ain't goin' anywhere anymore than I am!:) Go git some more salve for your fingers, stick your scorched feet in a tub of cold water, work that kink out of your tail, and you'll be ready to work some more.:)

Only a weekend with the Outlaws? How'd you pull that one off?

I'll probably vote the same way. You'll know who I am. I'll be the one with a clothespin on my nose. At this point, I'm ready to dig Sadaam up.

you know dan- i will probably be lurking around but why bother getting down and dirty? no one is terribly interested in changing anything in their lives- to make the planet a better place; to make this country a better place; to make themselves better people. you can't change anyone but yourself and i try and live a life as full of integrity as i can. unfortunately, many do not. unfortunately, these people are my fellow americans. unfortunately, they are on the left and right. and no one likes to hear that. i am getting tired of having to try and be the voice of reason among idiots.

I believe we're all human, though, aren't we? I think that is the challenge.

I just read this,,,,I had noticed that you had not commented on my VOTING story...and I had thought hmm, that is not good...and I had noticed that some people that read the SIrens post you did were not totally hearing your messege...BUT I have to say this...YOU VOICE is so important- never ever underestimate that...about a month ago Mirth went through a very similiar phase...of being disillusioned....and to a degree battle weary...the main point is that the RIGHT to Vote is Sacred...and none of us should take for granted or likely..if you want to vote for your dog or shoes- I don;t care...as long as you vote for you...

If you read my post I do so indeed understand about feeling like this country is no longer MY or OUR country....I know that feeling... going away or being silent will not help...please please think about this....

And yes, there is nothing worse than to write something that is important and dear to one's heart , becuase it matters and having people that don't care enough preach at you...or scorn you...Please know that is their Mistake..not yours...

we need you and your voice...

i won't be writing probably until at least monday. i may need a month to recover from two teenaged girls who are on vacation before school starts again :) i am too tired to think about what to say. i do know that the voice here will probably change. i doubt i will stop blogging. i couldn't stay away from reading all of the great blogs out there. i just don't know what to say and i am a proponent of not saying anything until or unless you have something of value to say. i don't like small talk and talk about nothing in particular. that's one big reason i don't like parties and other social events. i hate being tactful and careful. sigh. anyhoo- i am pooped. i will be back and think about what i want to do on monday. i am going to have to re-evaluate where i am and what i do have to say.

What pisses me off is that someone would talk about your, or anybody else's progeny. Fuck them. It's your business whether to bear children.

And I agree with future. You ain't goin' anywhere. You're one of the toughest people I know as far as sticking to your convictions. It's been a long hot summer and you gotta serve up hospitality to house guests. Of course you'll not post today, but you will tomorrow. We need it. You do it. It's part of our lives.

My state, Wisconsin, also has two Dems in the Senate and a great Congress man named Dave Obey. I write him often. He doesn't have to answer me, but he does. He takes the time to explain his platform and it makes more sense to me than the Independents, the Republicans and anyone else. I'll vote Democrat. In fact, I am a Yellowdog democrat. I'd rather vote for a yellow dog rather than a Republican. I'll publish that letter from Congressman Obey soon on Spadoman's Peace Blog.

In the meantime. Listen to future. Lick your wounds and get bandages from those of us in your corner.

no spado honey- i was talking about my progeny and lack thereof. my buddy said that the rest of america is my progeny and i disagreed. i still do. i think that it is irresponsible to have children and that the people in this country who do- are ignorant. i can expound more on the topic with anyone who disagrees. but- your progeny is not my concern. tough shit.

Life does get tiresome trying to deal with all that is thrown at us by the mob in the White House. Some days a person just has to back off. Other days...a person will be filled with words to share with others. Every day is different in what it may or may not bring forth.

Yep, actions are needed, the words have been spoken, ad nauseum. ; (
