tuesday post for peace

why have we been so afraid? why are some of us still so afraid? afraid of the world around us; afraid of each other; afraid to speak up and speak out? is life so much scarier than when america was bombed by the japanese or had german uboats off of our eastern seaboard? is life so much scarier than the height of the cold war with the ussr's missles pointed at us? we have these vague fears of life that have come from somewhere. how can we push for peace in the world if we have not made peace with ourselves?

my post for peace is simple- slow down and consider what makes you afraid, and why. is it the images you see when you are watching america's average of 4 hours a day of tv? is it the rhetoric you hear on talk radio as you drive to work? is it the corporate propaganda you read in the daily newspaper? why not unplug and recenter? make peace with yourself. then, it can spread like ripples on a pond. peace in our time.

Very true. As the saying goes, "What gets your attention, eventually gets you" is really true.

If only Peace had our attention.

Part of it is "problem" overload. So many problems, serious problems that must be addressed now, are swirling all around us. Not only do we have all those problems, but we're prevented from addressing them correctly, or at all.

Nicely stated and very true! It's just hard to imagine people aren't interested enough to go further than what they are being shown/told. ; (

My Tues 4 Peace will be tomorrow, if you happen to pass by.

Why are we so afraid to impeach these guys?

Beautiful post. We have been the victim of our own homegrown terrorists who weild fear like a club.

Pause, take a deep breath, and reasonably look at facts. Facts are the enemy of fear.

Cowards always blame their fear on others, assuming that their character flaw, the inability to act bravely in the face of fear, is shared by all others. Cowards can’t face their fear (denial) or blame others so they may be absolved.

Brave men (and women) face their fear, recognize it, and then act appropriately despite their fear. Often the actions of the brave can protect others from war, famine, pestilence, and death, to their great credit.

Fear is something to face and defeat, to allow us to take action against the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune.
