this is the last time

that i post about having a nice day. yesterday and today have been cool and rainy. while i don't mind the rain (all of the newbie plants get water) it does blow my mind that i went from utopia in new york- to foggy bottom. sigh. on a brighter note- for all of you wondering minds- i took some pictures of my veggies and compost bin and will publish them soon- i promise! i just have to put them on the computer first- so it might take a while :) i have a post cooking around in the ole' noggin'- so something akin to a real post will be here sometime this week. was that vague enough to be a politician?

speaking of politicians- and why i could never, ever reconcile myself to voting for the right- did anyone catch any of the rethuglican debacle- i mean debate the other night? i saw a clip where romney would double the size of guantanamo. it was during a hypothetical question- i don't want to take it out of context- their god forbid! the answers to the hypothetical scenario- something out of 24 with explosions and carnage and like 4 american cities wiped out- were just as ridiculous as the scenario. my thought is- why answer something like that? no reality based thinking at all. even from the moderators.

Fortunately, I missed last night's Republican hoe-down. I saw the first one, and was appalled as much by Chris Matthews lack of follow through with questions as by the insanity and inanity of the responses. This was not a debate, it was a promotion of idiocy: three of them reject scientific fact in evolution!

So, here's my thought: insanity is doing the same thing over and over, expecting different results. This nation is on the brink of disaster, and possibly we've fallen over the edge already. With a Right Wing crew who preach hate, biggotry, and repression, why should I expect anything else from them but "magical thinking?"

So go ahead and post about having a good day. We have things to be grateful for, and they include an internet forum where we can talk about beauty; we can talk about dignity; we can talk about peace. And through finding this community, we can develop the courage to ACT for peace.

When we heard some of the clips and the audience went wild with clapping at some of those violent statements, my son said, "They were all promised a Twinkie if they clapped." That 'splains it.

yeah- but the truth is- there are an awful lot of people in the world and in this country who feel that way. they believe what these people are selling. they believe IN romney and giuliani and mccain. hell, some even believe that cheney and rove are- as i choke writing this- wonderful and great- and just what this country and the world need. cheney08 is a blogger with a site devoted to cheney- and from the looks of it- it ain't satire. while these folks may not be majority- they take advantage of the constitution and it's built in buffers for minorities- and abuse it. these people are just smart enough to be dangerous.
