i don't think...

that this is what the framers had in mind when forming our constitution- but let us not say that the cheney administration has ever let something as pesky as the constitution get in their way of power grabbing. alberto has been in the hot seat for a bit now- as well he should be with gems like these:

judges unfit to rule on terror policy.

basically, he believes that the entire judicial branch should rubber stamp whatever cheney wants- no questions asked. which is how the patriot act got drafted in the first place i imagine. yes, the patriot act has reared its ugly head once again. you see, the cheney administration is not happy with just a little power- he wants it all. most folks know that federal justices and judges have to be appointed by the president and confirmed by the senate. probably most don't know that the same procedure was used for appointing justice department federal attorneys. you guessed it- under the patriot act- these folks can now be appointed without going through the senate confirmations. so- what is the cheney admin doing?

justice department names new prosecutors, forcing some out

firing and replacing the ones who aren't 'on board'- as they tried to do with federal judges. constant vigilance is necessary to combat these constant assaults on our constitution. impeachment is the answer.

Yes! Impeachment is the only answer! Removal and try directly following the ouster!

Either Cheney fails civics class, or I do. Actually, I'm the one who passes.

As bad as this sounds and is, I fear something even worse: The continuing power grab and stocking of yes men doesn't reflect an admin that only plans to be in power for slightly less than two more years.

They don't want anybody who may prosecute them. sigh, thought I was depressed when I read this and then I read the future was yesterday's post, now I'm really depressed.

Time to put on the coffee.

Hmmm, you don't suppose that wee bit of cronyism is involved as in "heckuva job Brownie?" And the number being swept out is unprecedented, some of whom are in the midst of corruption investigations of Bush administration officials and key Republican lawmakers. Why?
A suspicious mind might wonder whether it's a coincidence that Carol Lam lost her job after prosecuting former Rep. Randy Cunningham, and that Kevin Ryan is getting the boot after investigating the backdating of stock options awarded to corporate executives.
