gone- but not forgotten

"We are the people who run this country. We are the deciders. And every single day, every single one of us needs to step outside and take some action to help stop this war," Ivins wrote in the Jan. 11 column. "We need people in the streets, banging pots and pans and demanding, 'Stop it, now!'"

It's our responsibility to make sure Molly Ivins is never dead....only the shell that contained her.

just by chance I learned of this from Americablog and posted my attempt at a eulogy there.
Shorter version: I knew nothing about her until I woke up to politics in 1999.
I since discovered that she was the smartest, best informed and funniest political commentator.
Being so late to "the game" I;ve read only a fraction of her work and I only bought "SHRUB" last year.
But I am upset at her demise.Very upset in fact.

We must make sure that she lives on in all of us.

Her death is a huge loss in the search for journalistic truth. May she rest in peace.

I had the good fortune to hear Molly speak a couple of times, and I have always remembered one of her stories on church-state separation. It seems the Texas state legislature had decided to place a nativity scene in the capitol rotunda. Calling around the government offices for a comment, the only person Molly could get on the phone was then-state treasure Ann Richards.

When asked to comment on whether or not it was appropriate to have the nativity scene in the capitol Richards responded: "Gee Molly, I'd hate to see it taken out ... it might be our only chance to get three wise men in that building!"

I hope they are having a great time tonight!

That's a great picture of my girl Molly. Tough and smiling, right to the end.
