running on empty

i do like that jackson browne song. i was inspired to ramble to clear the cobwebs today by carbuncklefrank over at from chicago to here. i feel like i am trying to run away from the inevitable. i started thinking about popular movies and books and stuff and how often the hero is trying to run away from doing what needs to be done--or running away from confronting something, or someone, or himself. i am deliberately not using male/female words because i am too lazy to type- so you pc folks tough cookies. anyhoo- i feel like i am trying to run- trying to distract myself from facing the inevitable, trying to shield myself from a world of hurt and anguish. now we all know that we can't stop life- so i guess the best thing for me to do is take a rest and confront what i have to confront. i used to tell my young clients that you can't run from your problems because they follow you. better to deal with them and get them out of the way so you can get on with life. i think i will put that off for a bit longer until i have had my cuppa joe this morning. then- back into the fray of living life. smell ya

We must all recharge sometime. My husband and I are taking the day off Saturday and going to Octoberfest in the lovely Hill Country town of Frederiskberg,TX. It is only 45 minutes away, but it will be a wonderful day trip, an escape from all the horrible news and the world of corruption and lies we seem to swim in.
That is why on my blog I mix politics with humor. Can't stay pissed all the time. Sometimes, we just have to laugh.

Bright light almost blinding,
Black night still there shining,
I can’t stop, keep on climbing,
Looking for what I knew.

Had a friend, she once told me,
’you got a friend, you ain’t lonely,’
Now she’s gone and left me only
Looking for what I knew.

Mmm, I’m telling you now,
The greatest thing you ever can do now,
Is trade a smile with someone who’s blue now,
It’s very easy just.

Met a man on the roadside crying,
Without a friend, there’s no denying,
You’re incomplete, they’ll be no finding
Looking for what you knew.

So anytime somebody needs you,
Don’t let them down, altho’ it grieves you,
Some day you’ll need someone like they do,
Looking for what you knew.

I guess it's easier to face things but sometimes I have to think, is it worth the trouble. Sometimes it is and other times, I'm not so sure.

Reading takes me away from everything. I can read with the tv on and another conversation going on in the room. When I need a timeout, I read.

Hang in there. We're gonna get this thing done. We surely are.

Have a great weekend everyone :)

betmo, here's a cup 'o joe for your empty bucket. Please know that I threaded through some very good posts here (via the link to the brother) as well as your commenting visitors. You have an interesting circle, probably because you are interesting yourself. Have a good recharge, and a good weekend. I shall return.

with your title I thought maybe this would be a post on the new GOP slogan, but then I thought no, that would be running on toxic waste.

Recharge them batteries girl, we need ya.

Go ahead and recharge Betmo. I have enough anger to recharge anyone. Hell, just to keep things rolling, I have brought in more bloggers on my site. I now have the honor to say that Dizzy Dezzi is posting there!!

So even on my 7 days at work, there are still post gettting put up in case I can't get the time to do so myself. I still can read them, and comment, but I don't have the time to post every day.

That kinda helps though, because I have the week at work to think about things. When I go on days off like I am on now, I just blast away!
